Black & White Film Processing, Proofing & Printing

1. Roll Film (35mm and 120)

Each roll is hand processed using stainless steel reels and tanks. Our standard developer is D-76, 1:1 dilution. We have five standard times of development, covering most normally exposed black and white films available. Your negatives are returned to you in archival negative preservers. Pro Proofs are made with film in direct contact with paper.

***Normal Service Time: Film in by 1 p.m. is processed and proofed by 1 p.m. the next day (except Saturday).

Briefly, here are some basic prices: To develop your traditional balck and white film, and do a set of proof prints: (In either B&W or Sepia look - prices are approximate, depending in # of exposures)

2. Custom Grade Black & White RC Prints

Each enlargement is tested and hand printed for optimum density and contrast on RC paper. Choice of Pearl or glossy surfaces. Limited dodging, burning, and cropping included. Dust spotting included. Ask about Rush service.

•Normal Service Times: 48 hours.
•Rush Service: 24-48 hours 50% additional, 23 hours or less 100% additional, 2 hours or less 150% additional. Sepia toned RC prints 100% additional, and may require additional time.

3. Special Custom Grade Black & White Prints

This grade of print is for those negatives which require extra time and materials to produce an acceptable print. The following require special custom grade: prints from color negatives, precise black line borders, exact sizing, exact matching, vignetting, diffusing, work print set for retouching, some fashion, extreme crops of less than 50% of the negative, or extensive manipulation. Pearl or glossy RC paper.

• Normal Service Time: 48 hours, Rush service available

4. Fiber Based Exhibition Grade Prints (Hand Processed)

The Best for exhibition, family heirlooms, fine portraiture or whenever both quality and longevity are a priority. Also best for extensive artwork or handcoloring (ask for quote). Toned prints are available in sepia, split sepia, and selenium toners. These prints, with care, are guaranteed to last a lifetime. Choice of 5 fiber papers. Ask to see samples.

For fiber based prints requiring special custom treatment as above, add 40% to regular fiber base price. For 10 or more prints from same negative, take 10% off Add'l print price. For larger archival prints, consider the Giclee prints as an alternative.
• Normal service time: 3 to 5 work days Larger prints (20x30+) by arrangement.

5. Larger Custom and Exhibition Prints

For special custom large prints, add 40% to regular custom prices. Some papers are only available up to 40x60. These larger prints are generally made slightly oversize and left untrimmed.
•Normal Service Time: 7 to 10 days, or by arrangement.

6. Digital Photographic Services

We offer photographic quality digital services, including high quality scanning, retouching and Giclée Prints. Please see seperate digital price list.

7. Copy Negatives and Restoration Work

We take pride in our copies of old photos. Ask to see samples of our work. In some cases we can improve upon an existing print with custom copy negatives, and by contrast enhancement, cropping, retouching, airbrushing, or digital work. Damaged originals can be copied and restored. This work is performed after a quote is approved by you. Your orignials are returned to you unchanged. The negatives we produce are yours to keep. We cannot copy copyrighted materials unless you have obtained permission from the copyright owner in writing.

8. Internegatives and Copy Slides

To make black and white prints from a slide, an internegative (also called a conversion negative) is necessary. An acceptable alternative is to scan your slide and print it digitally. Copy slides of flat artwork are high quality slides made using professional film. There is a 10 piece, or $100.00 minimum order.
