What is the best way to send my files to you?

If you’re not able to bring in your files to us we have 2 electronic methods to transfer your files.

1) EMAIL If you are unable to come into the store, you can email your files to us at: crew@moonphotolab.com (25 MB limit)

2) For bigger files, or folders of files, we use We Transfer. Our web address for WeTransfer is moonphotolab.wetransfer.com.

IMPORTANT

If you do email us, please include your name and phone number, if you want scans or prints, and what type (automated or giclee) , sizes and quantities for each file submitted, border preferences, and any cropping instructions (whether to crop for a full – size print, or no cropping)

MAIL

You can also mail your originals in to us, but we ask that you please call in first to discuss your project with you personally. – 206.783.3377.

What type of files do you accept?

 JPEG, TIFF, and PSD files preferred;

Also accepted:  PNG, and PDF files

The most common problem we run into with files we receive is that they are too small for the print size requested so please send us high res uncompressed files if possible. A file that is 1 megabyte is not going to make a good quality print. For example if you want an 8×10 photo your file size should ideally be around 20 megabytes.

Will You Return My Negatives?

Yes, of course!

Do You Charge for Blank Rolls of Film?

Yes we do. Every roll  takes time, energy, and chemistry to process and so we need to charge for the developing regardless of the results.

How Long Do Orders Take?

Everything varies a little but most film processing, basic printing, and scanning orders take 3-5 days. Big batches of scans, retouching, and Giclee orders typically take 5-10 days, if you need and order rushed please let us know we are happy to work within your time constraints as much as we can.

What is the Best Resolution?

Files should be 300 dpi for optimal results however we can generally make prints from files as low as 150 dpi.

What Color Mode/ICC Profile should I Use?

The color profile we use for our basic digital prints is sRGB IEC61966-2.1 . It’s a common profile and can be selected in most versions of Photoshop.

For Giclée printing we use the AdobeRGB 1998 color profile.

Please keep in mind that every computer screen is calibrated differently and your computer screen at home may look different than ours.

What does Giclée Mean?

Giclee is based off a french technical term that means a jet or nozzle and has become an umbrella term to describe archival prints that are typically made using a high quality ink jet printer. These museum quality prints are slated to last 75-100 years.
